Peritoneal Mesothelioma Treatment Costs

Peritoneal Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that attacks the lining of the abdomen, enveloping many of the organs in the abdomen by a thin membrane of mesothelial cells, known as the peritoneum. It is caused due to exposure to asbestos. This tumor as a long lactation period and is often diagnosed 30-50 years after the exposure. Though currently no treatment is available for curing this disease, a timely diagnosis (depending upon the size of the tumor), may in improve the patients quality of life. In some cases of early diagnosis, the treatments can result in extending the life of victim up to five years, in comparison to the normal lifespan of one year for a peritoneal mesothelioma patient. While the current survival rate for peritoneal mesothelioma patients is low, new peritoneal mesothelioma treatments are in development, and some show great promise. Radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and/or surgery are the most common options available today for the treatment of peritoneal mesothelioma.

The cost incurred in overall treatment of this tumor is almost the same as the cost involved in the treatment of other tumors. It is difficult to determine exact figures as there is variability in treatment plans, but cancer treatments can cost many thousands of dollars per month. Overall, cancer treatment, including peritoneal mesothelioma treatment, costs over $40 billion in the US each year. For a typical individual, who already has been victimized by this dreadful disease, the treatment costs can prove to very expensive and unaffordable. If you have been diagnosed and are suffering from peritoneal mesothelioma, it is advisable to consult a peritoneal mesothelioma lawyer, who can guide you as to your legal rights and how you can recover compensation from the party responsible for your exposure to asbestos. An expert lawyer can help you recover compensation for bills, lost wages, and punitive damages, which can go up to millions of dollars.

Pet Insurance -- A Good Idea!

Ever thought about taking out insurance to guard against pet theft? It is probably something you think most people have never needed to worried about. But that is quickly starting to change.

Statistics reveal that pet theft has overtaken mobile phone and ipod robberies to become the most rapidly growing crime in the UK. Each year, there are 50,000 dogs which are snatched from their owners. Of those victims, 40,000 had pet insurance. This sort of insurance can offer help in various ways.

First of all, the insurance pays for the costs of advertising. It also pays for the costs of offering a reward. Then, when you find your dog, it will provide the financial assistance to get the animal back home. You can claim anything from 200 to 1000 depending on your insurance policy.

Then, in the unfortunate instance that your pet is never recovered, the insurance company will pay anything from 500 to 1500 for the value of your dog, provided that the animal has been missing anything from 30 to 90 days.

You can take out claims with insurance companies like PetPlan, E&L, Marks & Spencer and the Kennel Club is another. In fact, many mainstream insurers also offer cover as well and you can find out about quotes for different companies through the internet. If you do pay for your policy online, it can be the case that you can claim an online payment discount.

Some of the problems that cause pet theft in the case of dogs is that the owners dont take enough care with respect to their dogs security. Owners leave their dogs tied up loosely outside shops and the advice from experts is that by doing this you are making your pet easy prey for a criminal.

Pedigree pets in particular are targets. So are dogs owned by celebrities. A criminal might not steal the pet because it is high quality, but so they can make a ransom demand for the animal to be returned.

Along with taking out insurance, theres also other things you can do to guard against your dogs safety. This includes making sure that your dog wears a collar and identification tag with your contact details displayed on it. Dogs can also be micro-chipped or tattooed so they can always be identified. The Kennel Club Pet Reunification Service offers this service.

Keep all of your dogs documentation in a safe place. Also keep a photo of your dog from the side so it can be easily identified. But more importantly, dont let your dog out of your site by not tying it up and leaving it. Keep the animal secure in your back garden where it can be seen. Dont walk your dog without a leash, leave it inside or lock it in a car all alone.

If in the unlucky instance your dog does get stolen, report it to the police. Then contact the local dog warden. If your dog is micro-chipped, contact petlog or visit the organisations lost and found data base www.doglost.co.uk

A Quote for Car Insurance

Looking for a quote for car insurance in the UK? Here's something worth reading before you make your final decision.

Shopping for the cheapest quote can be a time consuming process if you want the best deal. It's not necessarily as simple as getting to the first comparison site you come across, filling in your details and clicking the "Buy" button. That would just be way too easy, along with the missed opportunity of finding a cheaper quote.

You've probably heard of the numerous sites that compare a whole host of insurance companies to find you the best deal, advertising often on television. Comparison sites are not bad places for finding cost effective motor insurance but better deals can also be found from insurers who decide not to affiliate themselves with these sites.

Though there are many advantages, there are also downsides to comparison sites. When getting a quote for car insurance or buying a policy the insurer has to pay that comparison site a commission for every quote or sale made. Effectively the site is acting as a middleman and the amount for that commission is in the end passed on to the customer. Good news for the comparison sites that make quite a large sum of money from this process, though not such good news for us customers. There are, however sites that have chosen to remain independent. Just take a look around, you're sure to find them. Direct Line is a good one to try.

Now, I might have been a little too hard on comparison sites so far. As I've said, they aren't bad places to find motor insurance. In fact they can be the great places to find a quote. Go take a look at Comparison and GoCompare, Both the biggest players in the game with a multitude of insurance companies under their belt vying for your custom. On the plus side, these sites have helped make the motor insurance industry competitive almost to the point of being cut throat. That's more of what we like to see!

Ultimately though, you are also looking for more than just price when shopping around for a car insurance quote. You should check the excesses and exclusions carefully so they match what you need. MSN's insurance service is certainly worth a try. Powered by Insurancewide, it includes car, home, travel, life and various other forms of cover and does look at more than just price when it is comparing quotes. The benefits of using Insurancewide's service are that it uses innovative technology to provide the fastest, most independent and easy-to-use way to compare insurers in the UK and no insurer can buy their way to 'top spot' on the service. There are three vital elements making up their method of insurance comparison: the insurer's relevance to customer needs; the price, which is influenced by underwriters' risk factors and loadings; and the success rates achieved by insurers when dealing with similar customer profiles. Their comparison system takes into account all three of these elements before directing you to the best value provider, not just price alone.

Before buying your policy there is another thing to be aware of. If once insured for your own car, are you allowed by the policy to drive other cars? In other words, once insured can you drive someone else's insured car with their permission?. Policies used to allow this more often than they do nowadays and it's a huge advantage to have. You never know when you might need to drive someone else's car. With a policy that states you can well, then you can!

Horse Pucky: One Of My Favorite Words

Did you pick your favorite word describing horse excrement from my last article called Bumper To Bumper Traffic: The Back End Of a Horse? If not, you better go back and read it. Time's a wastin'.

Here is the prize list:

1. Spend a day mucking stalls (shoveling horse doo-doo) in the arctic cold. In the cold winter months horse manure can be used as golf balls. Your local golf course will love it. You can play golf and fertilize the fairway at the same time. Make sure you wear old clothes and take a hot shower when you're done. Leave your smelly clothes in a separate room so as not to contaminate the rest of the house.

2. Pick poop out of a horse's feet (all four of them). If the horse doesn't feel like picking up a foot you may be in trouble. It could get exciting.

3. Remove dried mud from a 1200 pound horse, which has spent a good portion of the day outside, rolling and grinding cool wet mud into it's coat, while you have been working all day to pay board so the horse can do this.

4. Last, but not least, spend a few days in traction because one of those magnificent, powerful beasts decided to kick up it's heels because of feeling happy (mud bath) and frisky due to all the food and treats it consumes. What's a few days in traction!? Just think...you can get time off from work.

Out of the four prizes listed above, which one did you choose? Let me know and I'll make sure you get in touch with one of our local stable owners. Don't delay. You'll want to make sure someone else doesn't claim your favorite prize.

Ski Resorts In France - La Tainia - For Chalet Holidays and Great for Skiing and Snowboarding

La Tania is part of the huge, world famous, alpine ski resort known as the Three Valleys which consists of 200 lifts and over 600km of patrolled pistes.

It is the latest village to be developed in the Courchevel Valley and can be found nestled in a beautiful pine forest at 1400m. It was built as the athletes village for the 1992 Winter Olympics but has since grown and established itself as a superb resort in its own right without losing its village atmosphere and charm.

It is conveniently located just a couple of lifts and a short ski away from Courchevel 1850 - the main hub of the valley, and the same distance from Meribel in the next valley. It is a great place for skiers and boarders of all abilities to base themselves with green, blue and red pistes all running down into the resort.

As these pistes run through the forest they are well protected during heavy snowfalls so you dont have to stop skiing and there are snow cannons running all down the blue run to ensure that you can always ski home if there is a shortage of the real stuff.

There are several board parks and plenty of off-piste to satisfy the more adventurous. As well as a gondola and a drag lift taking you to the slopes above the resort and beyond there is a free drag lift suitable for beginners and with several ski schools based in resort what could be more convenient?

If there are non-skiers in your group or you just fancy a break from skiing there are plenty of other things to do around Courchevel such as ice skating, bowling, dog sledding, ice carting, snow-shoe walks, skidooing, paragliding, parachuting, indoor climbing, swimming, shopping to mention but a few.

The village centre is completely pedestrianised and comprises:

4 ski hire shops
a tourist office
a post office
a bakery
a newsagents
a supermarket
5 bars
8 restaurants
a pizza take-away
a cash point

There is a free bus every hour that runs from La Tania to Courchevel 1850 via all the other villages in the valley. La Tania has a large amount of free parking.

National Football League Fans are a breed apart. Every Sunday in the fall is their Sabbath, NFL stadiums around the country are their altars. Sure, there are other sports like baseball and basketballs but there are just mistresses to their true love, Sunday afternoon (and sometimes Monday night) NFL football.

You would think buying a gift for a man like this would be easy, there are tough decisions to be made. While there is no greater gift for these gentlemen than something emblazoned with the logo of their favorite team, the tricky part is deciding what the gift itself will be. There are all kinds of items out there like New York Giants plastic key chains and Dallas Cowboys pillow covers that might seem to fit the bill, you may want to stick with something thats a little higher in quality and that these tough guys might actually get some use out of.

How about a stainless steel flask with a pewter logo of your recipients favorite team. What better way to keep him warm on those cold December Sundays than to equip him with 8 ounces of his favorite liquor. All of his fellow tailgater will be duly impressed to see their team logo on a cool flask. Make it even cooler by emblazoning his initials right on the face of it. Joke's On Us: Changing Perceptions of the Legal Industry

The Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA) has decided to change their name to The American Association for Justice, to better suit "what they do" rather than "who their members are." The name change is an attempt to help others see that a lawyers job is to fight for the people, and to change the perception of boastful lawyers who sit back and collect exorbitant trial fees.

A firm's reputation is an extremely valuable asset for creating and building status and often times is worth more than actual profitability. If in fact a true image change is to occur for the ATLA or American Association for Justice, more than a name change is required. Improved organizational practices over client confidentiality as a PR branding strategy should be considered.

Trust in Branding

Branding trust for a legal organization involves careful deliberation about where the new brand will live, who the brand affects, the strengths and weakness of the new brand, and examining barriers and opportunities the new name and image may bring forth.

If consistency does not exist on all levels, no benefits will come from re-branding the ATLA or American Association for Justice.

Branding Confidence and Trust in Client Confidentiality

Many firms have vulnerabilities that can lead to potential data leakage via email breach, with no defense implementation in place. At any given time in a firm, lawyers aren't the only one's handling client information. Assistants, front desk workers, and paralegals at the office may have access to sensitive information like clients names, banking information, location of assets and social security numbers. If any of this information would escape the firm into opposing council's hands, malicious thieves, or even to the press, a firm's reputation would be jeopardized.

Showing a commitment to the prevention of email theft and misuse can do much to brighten the AAJ's public perception. Within a legal office, lawyers can extend this image of trust by assuring their clients that their information remains in the protected walls of the practice.

Small and Large firms alike should consider implementing email anti-theft solutions and/or data encryption of sensitive email and documents. This will not only show the industries commitment to confidentiality but will also protect client and case information from being misused by co-workers, assistants, and other attorneys. It's like putting a stamp of trust on the document itself, assuring the sender and recipients of email that the information is well protected.

Instead of looking for a written statement to put an end to their public humiliation and degradation, by implementing secure email practices, the ATLA can show a sincere intention to incorporate and complete this holistic branding process. Because a lawyers' livelihood is based entirely on their reputation, it is reasonable and plausible that the industry would be eager to lighten public scrutiny and to do so in a manner that is quick and shows real intention.

In reality, many more trust-building activities need to take place with clients to prevent further brand erosion. Lawyers need to be more careful in safeguarding client and case information and practices should not involve an over-exaggerated concern with billable hours. To complete a full 180, the ATLA needs to provide their lawyers with new guidelines for their practice and also provide the tools and resources necessary to gain back customer trust and satisfaction.

For the new American Association for Justice to surpass the principles and values set forth by the former persona the ATLA, adopting a robust client email privacy solution in their firms is a solid first step.
